Curiosity got the better of me—and I’m so glad it did.

The day I received my copies of Kingdom of Mu, I told myself I’d just read a few pages on my work break. That “few pages” quickly turned into the first couple of chapters, and before I knew it, I had been completely transported into a vivid new world. Mu is a land layered with mystery, power, wealth, survival, and ambition—where villages rely not only on strength, but on unique skills and carefully balanced alliances to endure and conquer.

What surprised me was how effortlessly I lost track of time. I meant to sample the story; instead, I devoured three chapters in one sitting and only stopped when reality (and my job!) called me back. Even then, my mind stayed in Mu. I found myself replaying scenes, turning over questions, and wondering what would happen next. By the end of the day, I had read the entire first book cover to cover.

The first instalment serves as a rich and compelling introduction to the Kingdom itself. We meet a wide cast of characters, each with clearly defined strengths and weaknesses that make them feel real and relatable. No one is simply “good” or “bad”—each has layers, motivations, and personal struggles that add depth to the story. Cam does a wonderful job of painting detailed images of the characters, making it easy to picture their expressions, their presence, and even the atmosphere around them.

What stood out most to me was the pacing. Every chapter ends with a subtle but powerful hook—an unspoken “what’s next?” that keeps you turning pages. The storytelling invites your imagination to run ahead, piecing together possibilities and anticipating the next twist. The world-building is immersive without being overwhelming; details are woven in naturally, allowing the reader to grow familiar with the Kingdom of Mu as the story unfolds.

If you enjoy fantasy that combines intrigue, layered characters, and a steady build of tension, Kingdom of Mu is a captivating read. It’s the kind of book that pulls you in quietly—and before you realize it, hours have passed and you’re already eager for the next instalment.

A thoroughly enjoyable and immersive start to what promises to be an exciting series.
